“Summer’s a great time for your child to relax and associate reading with pleasure. What can help with that? A dog that is gentle, calm and polite and listens patiently and without judgment as a child reads aloud.  Sign your child up for Neenah Public Library’s next monthly session of Pooches & Pages: Kids Reading to Therapy Dogs on Saturday, July 9.  Each child may register to read to a dog for 15 minutes between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m.

Pooches & Pages is a reading program for kids who will attend first through fifth grades in the fall. It is held on the second Saturday of the month.  Dogs are carefully selected to ensure a safe and fun experience, and the owner/handlers are library volunteers who love helping children become enthusiastic readers. Reading to dogs builds reading confidence and self-esteem, helps a child maintain focus for a longer period of time, and increases the motivation to read.

For more information or to register a child for a Pooches & Pages appointment, contact [email protected], visit the Neenah Library website at www.neenahlibrary.org, or call the Neenah Public Library Youth Services Department at 886-6335.”
